Specializing in Platinum casting

Alloyed jewlery metal specifications

Platinum alloy compositions
PT950 Platinum - 95% Platinum, 5% Ruthenium (950 Pt / 50 Ru)
Melting range: 3230 - 3260 degree F, Hardness approx. 130, can be stamped 'Platinum'

Ruthenium is a noble metal.
Slightly harder to cast than PT900 due to extra hardness.
PT900 Platinum - 90% Platinum, 10% Iridium (900 Pt / 100 Ir)
Melting range: 3235 - 3270 degree F, Hardness approx. 110, must be stamped 90Pt/10Ir.

Iridium is a noble metal.
Bright as-cast surface, good hardness for setting. Doesn't oxidize, but shrinkage porosity a concern.
