Specializing in Platinum casting
Many components and processes are involved in the casting production. All parts of the process are important to assure the final casting is of high quality.

While, of course, we do all of our casting in-house, it is interesting to discuss the details of the processes involved in the jewelry casting procedure. It is the most important part of the process, and shows our knowledge and careful attention to detail which is our hallmark.

Part 2
Investment Mold

Quality Control check: A careful quality control check is performed on the waxes, including the sprues, trees and if applicable bases, to assure no item has been overlooked during the wax making process.

Investing: After our careful check the next procedure is to create the investment cast from the wax. At this stage cleanliness and attentiveness to detail is most important to assure a superior cast.
Materials: We only use high-grade investment which is mixed only at the instant of use. This assures the purity of the investment mix, and like all our procedures is carefully monitored during the mixing process. Proper investing is essential for proper casting outcome.

Vacuuming: Once mixed, the investment is poured into the mold containing the waxes, where it is then pressure-vacuumed to remove air pockets and other gaseous impurities from the mix. Care is taken to vibrate the mold to assist in the removal of all air bubbles, and of course this process, like all of our others, is human monitored.

Burnout: The vacuumed flasks are then transferred to our computer-controlled ovens, where the molds are high temperature baked to set the investment and melt the wax. We oven process all of our molds at night, to assure adequate time for proper mold setting without disturbance or risk of interruption.

Casting: Usually the next morning the flasks are ready for casting in our state-of-the art casting machine. Inert gases which cover the precious metals during the casting process prevent the metals from oxidizing during the casting process. Thus, this process this will assist in a cleaner casting which will require less time in the finishing and polishing stages.
